The following are guidelines generally designed to help our clients get the most out of our time and their money.
1. As small problems occur that do not require immediate attention add them to a list along with any questions you may have; once the list has reached 8-10 items call us to schedule a service visit. This will cut down on the number of surprise issues that require us to schedule multiple short visits, or be tardy for our next appointment (which could be you). Minor issues include things like pop-ups, desktop shortcuts, spam emails and virus warnings that state the virus has been cleaned or quarantined.
2. Updating your operating system with critical updates. Windows XP tells you when it has an update that needs attention. Following the instructions will keep you safe and secure as well as save time having us do this for you. For further instructions on windows updates click here.
3. Taking notes can prevent repeat instruction as well as being billed for similar problems. Most minor problems are issues that can be resolved using very basic techniques common in average daily computer use. When we are on site or on the phone solving the minor problems, take notice of what we have done to fix them. If need be have us specifically instruct you how to repair/prevent them yourself whenever possible.
4. Before making any technology purchases consult us. Whether it is a new computer, copier or software asking our advice first can help you prevent regrets later. Recommendations based on research and experience can greatly improve your R.O.I. when it comes to any technology related purchases.
5. Planning technology changes in advance with a set timeline, goals and requirements plan can streamline any major transition. Having us create a plan and then following the plan as closely as possible cuts down on unforeseen and costly delays.
6. Communication is key to improving response time. Emailing us is the best way to ensure that we have your problem noted and will be responding shortly (often sooner than phone call response). Instant messaging with msn or windows messenger is a great alternative to short phone calls; we can schedule visits, answer questions and even help you remotely using messaging. We will, of course, always be available through phone calls and voicemails.
